CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will pilot a play-based learning program in some kindergarten classrooms when school starts in August, following a parent-led petition that drew thousands of signatures.
Seven schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg district were selected for the pilot, including:
- Collinswood Elementary
- Eastover Elementary
- Elizabeth Traditional Elementary
- Hawk Ridge Elementary
- Lansdowne Elementary
- River Gate Elementary
- Villa Heights Elementary
- Elizabeth Traditional Elementary
The district said the seven schools were chosen based on readiness indicators, school conditions, and a commitment to implementation.
