CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — It’s been almost a decade since the fatal shooting of Keith Lamont Scott by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer.
Sunday evening at Reedy Creek Park in north Charlotte, the community gathered to rally and hold a vigil in honor of Scott’s memory.
Forty-three-year-old Scott was shot and killed by Officer Brentley Vinson in September 2016. He was a father of seven. The shooting sparked days of protests across the city. I-85 was shut down as protesters took over the highway, looting tractor-trailers and setting fires.
