WEDDINGTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — It was a luncheon for future BBQ pitmaster legends.
Five BBQ pitmasters from across the South were recently named in the May edition of Southern Living for being the future of Southern barbecue. In partnership with the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, they were invited to a premium tasting event Sunday afternoon at The Hunter Farm in Weddington.
The pitmasters included Charlotte Sweet Lew’s BBQ’s Lewis Donald, Evan LeRoy (LeRoy and Lewis, Austin, TX), Hector Garate (Palmira Barbecue, Charleston, S.C.), Elliott Moss (Elliott’s BBQ Lounge, Florence, S.C.), and Zach Parker (B.E. Scott’s BBQ, Lexington, TN).
“I’m very humbled and honored to be a part of that conversation,” Donald says regarding being named one of the future legends of barbecue in Southern Living. “It only made sense that I would come back and try, and put an event around the article and make the article come to life.”…
