Suspect fatally shot by CMPD officer was a 47-year-old man. His name is released

The suspect fatally shot by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer has been identified as 47-year-old as Curtis Jermaine Massey, officials say.

Massey was killed around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, after police responded to a 911 call about a “disturbance” in the 1300 block of Lasalle Street, CMPD said. A firearm was recovered at the scene, officials said.

“According to CMPD, an officer fired his duty weapon after a man allegedly pulled a gun. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead,” the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation reports…
