KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) – A social media personality has been charged in West Virginia for allegations of domestic violence.
Michael Bowman, 36, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is facing one count of “strangle, suffocate, or asphixiate causing bodily injury or loss of consciousness” following an alleged domestic violence call to the victim’s apartment in St. Albans.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim’s son called 911 just before 7 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2026. The complaint says law enforcement asked Bowman to step outside and speak with them, and he allegedly told the victim to come outside as well, but authorities told her she did not have to do so.
Authorities say in the complaint that Bowman allegedly told them he and the victim had been in an argument, but said he preferred not to make any statements when asked if the argument became physical. The complaint says authorities then escorted Bowman to the parking lot.
According to the complaint, the victim told authorities the argument began over her communications with an ex, and that her son had called 911 because she and Bowman were “wrestling for control” of her cell phone. The complaint says she told authorities that red marks on her wrists were from the two of them bumping into each other while picking up the phone and that redness on her face was from her face getting naturally red…
