2-year-old injured in shooting at west Charlotte apartment: CMPD

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon in west Charlotte where a 2-year-old was injured.

Officials say, around 1:40 a.m., officers were called to the 5000 block of Evoke Living Lane where they discovered multiple apartment homes were struck by gunfire.

Officers located a 2-year-old female victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in one of the residences. Officials began immediate lifesaving medical aid to the child and transported her via CMPD patrol victim to an area hospital. The victim has life-threatening injuries but is currently listed in stable condition.

There is no word from police about whether there are any suspects.

This investigation remains active and ongoing.
