Luis Alfonzo Marcano-Marcano, 41, faced arrest after his seven-months-pregnant wife accidentally shot herself in the stomach while trying to take a pistol from him, according to police affidavits. Guests had left the back porch of the couple’s Mint Hill apartment after celebrating Marcano-Marcano’s birthday on April 11. An argument erupted between the husband and his wife, who was seven months pregnant. Impaired by alcohol and narcotics, Marcano-Marcano retrieved a pistol and fired a shot into the ground near her feet.[1]
The wife grabbed the weapon from a porch rail, intending to pocket it and prevent further incidents. In the process, she accidentally pulled the trigger, inflicting a gunshot wound to her stomach.
