MPTA board launches national search for permanent CEO amid transition to independence

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The board overseeing Charlotte’s transit system announced it will conduct a national search for a permanent CEO as the Charlotte Area Transit System prepares to become an independent transit authority.

The Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority Board retained executive search firm K&A to lead the search, which is expected to take several months. Interim CEO Brent Cagle will continue leading day-to-day operations in the meantime and has been encouraged to apply for the permanent role, according to the board.
