Teens plead guilty in 2024 shooting death of 15-year-old

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two teenagers accepted plea deals Thursday in connection with the shooting death of a missing 15-year-old in southwest Charlotte nearly two years ago.

Samir Xavier Metoyer and Issac Grier both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder related to the killing of Anthony Smith in September 2024. Smith was found shot to death near Old Pineville Road a week after he was reported missing by family.

Metoyer, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit second-degree murder. He was sentenced to 192-243 months in prison with 543 days served as credit. He could spend over 20 years behind bars…
