UVA researchers identify molecule found only in women that may affect immune response

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Researchers have identified a unique molecule found only in women that appears to play an important role in the immune system.

The team found women who became severely ill with COVID-19 were more likely to be missing the molecule, while it remained present in women with mild or no symptoms.
