A Greene County grand jury, sitting June 8 at the courthouse in Standardsville, presented true bills against seven individuals on various felony and misdemeanor charges.
In grand jury cases, the grand jury hears testimony from prosecutorial witnesses – usually law enforcement officers – before deciding whether sufficient evidence exists to bring charges against the accused.
Though it rarely happens if at least four of the seven jurors conclude, the evidence isn’t sufficient for a true bill. They can deny it. If that happens, the commonwealth’s attorney can bring back the charge at a future term day…
