CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Property owners can now opt in to get alerts of potential deed fraud right after it happens. The Charlottesville Circuit Court is in its final stages of switching to a records system that makes it possible.
“If someone records something here in my office that affects your real estate here in Charlottesville, you’ll get an email alert that something has been recorded that may affect your title,” said Llezelle Dugger, Charlottesville Circuit Court clerk.
Dugger says that the switch from a private vendor to using the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia systems for land records and criminal and civil records will not affect public access…
