WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) – Waynesboro police and school officials are sharing new details about Wednesday’s shooting at Westwood Hills Elementary School, where a man forced entry into the school, using a gun to injure a staffer before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shooter — Anthony Ignatiadis-Isabelle, 19, of Waynesboro — was a former student at Westwood Hills Elementary School and Kate Collins Middle School in Waynesboro, Waynesboro Public Schools confirmed on Friday. Police are still investigating his motive for the incident.
Waynesboro Police Chief David Shaw confirmed in a release on Facebook on Friday that Ignatiadis-Isabelle drove to the area of Westwood Hills Elementary and parked at Ridgeview Park on Wednesday morning before walking to the school property, shooting through a rear door and breaking through it.
