Greene BOS, PC get on same page for rest of 2026

At the April 14 Greene County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board paused its session to join with planning commissioners to lay out the priorities for the remainder of 2026.

Zoning and Planning Director Jim Frydl led the discussion, highlighting what he and his staff believe should be priorities for the year.

He also highlighted commissioner’s recommendations the supervisors approved in 2025 and earlier this year, including:

  • Solar;
  • Data Centers;
  • Flex Technology Research & Development District; and
  • Agritourism.

The board issued a new set of priorities for the Planning Commission to discuss:

  • Encouraging business development on the U.S. Route 33 corridors between Ruckersville and Quinque;
  • Simple updates to the county codes, including adjusting minimum parking areas;
  • Setting standards for private roads, including construction quality and access management;
  • Determining if some business requirements should be extended to residential areas, like “dark sky” rules or landscaping rules; and
  • Reviewing size limits on accessory structures.

The Planning Commission will also be working to assemble an updated Comprehensive Plan in 2028…
