CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WVIR) – A student at Charlottesville High School is gaining national attention for capturing a Central Virginia tradition through his lens.
Emmet Leclere, a 16-year-old sophomore, has been named a runner-up in the New York Times Student Photo Essay Contest.
His photo essay, titled “The Blessing of the Hounds: An Annual Nod to Virginia’s Past,” highlights a long-standing Thanksgiving tradition in Central Virginia.
“I was using a camera that I hadn’t used before at the Blessing of the Hounds that was provided by CHS photography,” Leclere said. “It’s more about understanding photography rather than getting a lot of likes or credit for your work—it’s about getting better.”…
