Day Shift May 29: A Squad

26-004966 – 1500 BLK Fruitland Drive– Evading/Narcotics Arrest – Officers attempted to stop a party riding a bicycle for traffic law violations. When officers initiated the stop in the 1500 block of Fruitland Drive, the suspect became verbally aggressive, began yelling, and fled on his bicycle. Officers pursued the suspect and deployed two TASERs while he was in motion; both deployments were ineffective. During the pursuit, the suspect, who was carrying a backpack, was briefly out of officers’ sight and is believed to have discarded the backpack near the arrest location on Fruitland Drive. The suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody. The property owner at the arrest location granted officers access to their backyard. During the search, officers located two people inside a shed. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the structure. Both individuals were taken into custody and charged with possession-related offenses. The two suspects denied any knowledge of the discarded backpack. Based on probable cause developed during the investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for the property to locate the backpack and any additional weapons, narcotics, or related evidence. The backpack was not located. During the execution of the search warrant, officers recovered small quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, and various items of drug paraphernalia from the residence. Narcotics and paraphernalia were seized as evidence. The bicyclist was charged with Evading Arrest and Tampering with Evidence…
