A Chattanooga nurse admitted stealing fentanyl from Erlanger Medical Center for personal use while the hospital’s artificial intelligence monitoring system failed to flag several warning signs, according to newly released state records.
The case involves certified registered nurse anesthetist John A. Stevenson, who worked for Anesthesiology Consultants Exchange, a company that contracts with Erlanger to provide anesthesia services.
According to a consent order approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing, coworkers reported concerns about Stevenson’s behavior on June 30, 2025.
