Chattanooga firefighters respond to St. Elmo home fire, pet dies despite rescue efforts

Chattanooga, TN – Chattanooga Fire Department crews responded to an overnight residential fire in St. Elmo where firefighters attempted to save a family’s pet, but the dog did not survive.

Firefighters were dispatched at approximately 1:06 a.m. on Aug. 3 to the 4600 block of Florida Avenue after receiving reports of a residential fire.

Engine 14 arrived and found heavy flames coming from the front porch and the front bedroom of the home. Crews immediately began fire attack operations while also conducting searches of the residence…
