(The Center Square) – The Tennessee town of Collegedale is addressing privacy concerns about automated license plate readers by taking the cameras down altogether.
Collegedale Police Chief Jack Sapp said in a statement on Wednesday that he revoked access to the city’s Flock cameras for all police officers. Collegedale is a suburb of Chattanooga with about 11,400 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
“This decision followed careful consideration of the technology, its use, and concerns expressed by citizens of Collegedale, as well as individuals who travel through and visit our community,” Sapp said in a statement. “At the same time, access to Collegedale’s LPR cameras by outside agencies was also revoked.”…
