EAST RIDGE, Tenn. — A new Safe Haven Baby Box is now in place at East Ridge Fire Rescue Station 1, giving mothers in crisis a secure and anonymous way to legally surrender an infant.
City officials in East Ridge held a blessing for the box, which is the 442nd Safe Haven Baby Box installed in the nation and the 30th in Tennessee.
The baby box is designed to allow a newborn to be surrendered safely and anonymously.
