Chesapeake event informs the public about data centers

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — This morning in Chesapeake, residents, business leaders, and stakeholders were treated to data center 101.

“There’s a lot of misnomers out there,” said David Ropp, Chesapeake Alliance’s chairman. “And all over the world, all over the state. We’re looking to bring one to the city of Chesapeake. We thought the best way for the city of Chesapeake to bring a data center is to educate the business community and educate the public.”

You might not know it from looking around the 757, but the Commonwealth of Virginia has the most data centers in the United States. While the vast majority of them are in Northern Virginia, interest in data center development continues to grow across Hampton Roads, as does skepticism…
