2 displaced, pet killed in Chesapeake house fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A fire displaced two people and killed a family pet in Chesapeake on Friday, the Chesapeake Fire Department said.

Firefighters were called to the 1700 block of Shipyard Road around 11 a.m., in the Deep Creek section of the city. They arrived to find a single-story residence with heavy smoke and fire coming from it.

The fire was brought under control at 11:23 a.m. Authorities said the residents were not home at the time, but a family pet perished in the fire…
