YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — A Poquoson police officer facing criminal charges appeared in court Monday following an incident where he allegedly held a teenager and an adult neighbor at gunpoint after a traffic accident.
According to court records, a 17-year-old boy was driving a truck when he struck Officer Michael Disanto’s parked police cruiser outside of Disanto’s Yorktown home. It happened on the night of April 19 in the Lakes at Dare neighborhood.
Poquoson police officer faces new felony charges
Disanto is accused of holding the teen and neighbor Russell Vogt at gunpoint until other law enforcement officers arrived. He is now facing felony charges of abduction by force/intimidation and use of a firearm in a felony, as well as charges of assault and battery.
A criminal complaint states that after Disanto heard a crash outside his residence, he called police, put on his vest and body-worn camera, and went outside. Investigators said body camera footage shows Disanto holding the driver and Vogt at gunpoint while yelling, “You stay right there, I have an internal laser on you. You move, you’re gone. I don’t know you. I don’t know if you have a weapon. You stay right where you’re at.”…
