PORTSMOUTH, Va., (WAVY) — Two individuals are facing multiple charges after Portsmouth police used K-9 units to sniff and aid in searching a vehicle. Police responded to a report of individuals handling firearms in a Navajo Trail parking lot on June 7 at approximately 8:43 p.m.
Rashaun Duvon Carter Jr., 27, and Jaquan Lamonte Majette, 25, are now facing charges including: Possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of auto shears and trigger activators, possession of schedule 1 or II narcotic and possession of firearms while in possession of certain substances, according to Portsmouth police.
When police arrived, they saw people trying to hide guns, which they soon recovered. They thought there might be additional criminal offenses there and requested canine units to help them with an open-air sniff. K9 Ace alerted them to a nearby vehicle. The officers obtained and executed a search warrant and recovered 59 3.5-gram bags of marijuana and several weapons, including a Glock with a switch, according to the police department…
