NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A heavy rainstorm on Thursday caused water damage to the Wells Theatre in Norfolk, forcing the cancellation of several upcoming events.
Severe thunderstorms roll through Hampton Roads
The Virginia Stage Company announced the disruptions on its social media pages following severe weather across Hampton Roads. Water entered the building and reached the theater stage, requiring crew members to clean the venue before welcoming audiences back.
Virginia Stage Company Manager Jeff Ryder shot video of the rain coming into the Wells Theatre, which is located at 108 E. Tazewell Street in Downtown Norfolk.
