VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach judge has nolle prossed charges against a man accused of shooting on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront back in March.
Matheus Cavalcante was one of five men charged in connection with a shooting that occurred just before 10 p.m. on March 7 on Atlantic Avenue that left six people hurt.

Cavalcante originally faced the following charges:
- six counts of reckless handling of a firearm
- six counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- five counts of aggravated malicious wounding
- malicious wounding
Those charges have now been nolle prossed, meaning prosecutors have chosen not to pursue them.
Bond set for two men accused in Virginia Beach Oceanfront shooting
The other four suspects charged in connection to that shooting, Andrew Anthony, Alex Scott Jr., Ba’Shaun Williams, and Jamari Horton, are set to appear in front of a judge Thursday morning for preliminary hearings.
