VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Residents in Virginia Beach who live just across from Mount Trashmore say the park’s name has taken on new meaning right in their backyards.
Shelia Ferguson has lived on Woodlake Road, just across from Mount Trashmore Park, for more than 50 years. Over the decades, she’s watched as problems began to develop in the creek behind her home.
“It was beautiful,” Ferguson said. “They kept everything trimmed. The canal was just in great shape, and then as time went on, it kept getting ignored and ignored. Now, it’s full of trash. It’s just so unkempt and now, even the critters can’t survive.”…
