NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — The Office of the Secretary of War and Department of the Navy unveiled an agreement Wednesday set to reshape unaccompanied housing for sailors in the Hampton Roads.
In coordination with Hunt Military Communities, the $1.7 billion redevelopment will deliver modern housing and retail amenities in Newport News. According to a release, aging facilities such as Huntington Hall will also be replaced.
“This agreement reflects the direction we want to take across our barracks portfolio: deliveringhigh-quality, cost-effective housing solutions that provide modern, reliable homes forservicemembers and prudent value for taxpayers,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary of War forHousing, Adam Dontz. “By combining private-sector expertise, disciplined stewardship of publicresources, and strong local partnerships, we can replace aging facilities faster, improve theresident experience and sustain quality over the long-term.”…
