Public art installation in Virginia Beach celebrates Kempsville

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A new piece of public art now stands at one of Virginia Beach’s busiest intersections, celebrating the history and community of Kempsville.

City leaders and community members gathered Saturday morning to dedicate “Harbor of Stories,” a 16-foot-tall steel sailboat sculpture installed at the intersection of Witchduck Road, Princess Anne Road and Kempsville Road.

The sculpture features dozens of glass panels that reflect the history of Kempsville, which once served as a port during the Revolutionary War and was the site of one of the conflict’s early skirmishes, known as the Battle of Kempsville…
