Shoe repair shops in America have been declining for years, and Evanston is no exception.
One of the last two shops in the city, Davis Shoe and Luggage Repair at 1608 Maple Ave., will close at the end of July, says owner Paco Villagomez.
Villagomez, 62, has owned the shop since 1990. He’s calling it quits and plans to return to Mexico. Asked why he’s leaving the business, he laughs and says, “I’m tired. It’s time.”…
