Ex-WGN Staffer Who Was ‘Violently’ Thrown To Ground, Held By Feds Files $10 Million Claim

LINCOLN SQUARE — A former WGN employee who was violently thrown to the ground and detained by federal agents in Lincoln Square in October filed a Federal Tort Claims Act claim against the federal government, a precursor to filing a lawsuit, her attorneys said Tuesday.

Debbie Brockman, a United States citizen and a producer at WGN, says she was “accosted” and “violently” thrown to the ground near Lincoln and Foster avenues by federal immigration agents during the Oct. 10 incident, which drew wide-scale attention.

She accuses the federal government of assault and battery, false imprisonment, false arrest and intentional infliction of emotional distress and requests $10 million in damages, her attorney, Brad Thomson, said in a press release announcing the legal action…
