Police ask drivers to avoid part of north suburb after incident involving train

Police in a north suburb of Chicago asked drivers to avoid part of the area on Saturday as authorities responded to an incident involving a train.

Just before 3 p.m., Mundelein police said an crossings at Route 176, Park Street and Hawley Street were blocked because of an “incident involving a train.”

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice. Please allow for additional travel time and follow all posted detours and directions from emergency personnel,” MPD said in a post on social media. “We appreciate your patience and cooperation as officers work to safely manage the situation.”…
