Large 24K-square-foot thrift store opening in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood

A sprawling thrift store is set to open in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood on Thursday, appealing to shoppers looking for sustainable options and one-of-a-kind finds.

Savers, a for-profit thrift chain that partners with charities, is planning a 24,000-square-foot location at 2928 N. Ashland Ave. in the Ashland Wellington Plaza, offering everything from preowned clothing to household goods, books and more.

Most of the space will be dedicated to retail, with thousands of gently used items added to the sales floor daily, the company said in a news release. The store will also serve as a donation site for the American Red Cross. Donated items will be purchased by Savers for resale in its locations…
