Chicago is taking a new approach to addressing one of its most persistent public safety challenges.
Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order on June 25 establishing the Office of Gun Violence Reduction, a new division within the mayor’s office that will focus on coordinating violence prevention efforts, analyzing data and measuring the effectiveness of programs aimed at reducing shootings and homicides throughout the city.
