Man killed in overnight shooting in West Garfield Park

CHICAGO (WGN) — Police say an investigation is underway on Saturday morning after a man was fatally shot while sitting in his car on the city’s West Side overnight.

According to Chicago police, the deadly shooting unfolded around 2:15 a.m. in the 4200 block of West Monroe Street in West Garfield Park.

Officers said the victim, a 37-year-old man, was sitting in his car in the area when an unknown male approached, pulled out a gun, and opened fire.

The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his body and was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
