Phone records prove illegal ICE detention story was part of calculated conspiracy, sheriff claims

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WISN/WBAY) – Cell phone records for the woman who claimed immigration officials held her in custody illegally in Illinois and Wisconsin prove she, her sister and a politician family friend conspired to fabricate the claims and defame Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt, a newly filed court document alleges.

This week, Schmidt’s legal team included information from the phone records in an amended civil complaint against Summer Sundas Naqvi, her sister, Sarah Afzal and their family friend, Cook County (IL) Commissioner Kevin Morrison, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.

“Beginning on or before March 5, 2026, and continuing thereafter, Defendants Naqvi, Afzal, and Morrison knowingly reached an agreement, understanding, or common scheme to publish, republish, and disseminate false statements concerning Sheriff Schmidt and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office,” Schmidt’s lawyers wrote…
