The Illinois Department of Transportation says an emergency closure of the inbound Kennedy Expressway (Interstate 90) ramp to Lawrence Avenue went into effect on Saturday, Aug. 1, because a retaining wall fell down.
The department said that it plans to conduct some temporary repairs starting Tuesday, Aug. 4, so that one traffic lane on the ramp can reopen in about a week. The ramp normally has two lanes, allowing for left turns onto eastbound Lawrence from either the left or right lane, with right turns only permitted from the right lane.
