Three Charged After Gary Traffic Stop Leads To Drugs, Stolen Gun

Tieasha M. Scott, 40, of East Chicago; Kimberly D. Williams, 61, of Gary; and Willie Darnell Magee, 60,of Gary, have been charged following a Gary traffic stop that led to the recovery of cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin, drug-packaging materials and a loaded handgun that police said had been reported stolen.

According to court documents, at approximately 9:28 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026, Gary Police observed a white Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south on Van Buren Street disregard a stop sign near 6th Avenue. Police followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at 7th Avenue and Jackson Street. Scott, who was driving and was the sole occupant, immediately told police her driver’s license was suspended. Police said Scott repeatedly reached around inside the vehicle despite being instructed to stop reaching and place her hands on the steering wheel. Officers also reported smelling a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from the Tahoe.

Police said Scott continued reaching near the center console before they observed her holding a clear plastic bag containing a white rock-like substance. After repeated commands, Scott allegedly dropped the bag onto the driver’s-side floorboard and appeared to attempt to step on it in an effort to destroy it. Scott was removed from the Tahoe and placed in handcuffs. Police also allegedly observed suspected marijuana on the driver’s seat and believed the white rock-like substance Scott had been holding was crack cocaine…
