27-Year-Old’s Disappearance During O’Hare Stopover Resolved Within 12 Hours
A Pittsburgh woman who went missing during a layover at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport was found safe less than 12 hours after her family issued a public plea. Zanajha Andrews, 27, was located at a Shell gas station near the airport on August 15 after a frantic search involving family, police, and social media.
Her mother, Yolanda Reynolds, confirmed the outcome on Facebook with a simple statement: “We have her.” The rapid resolution came after Andrews had become separated from her phone, made fragmented calls from unknown numbers, and was confirmed by a store clerk to have spent 45 minutes at the gas station before leaving on foot.
A Travel Itinerary That Went Wrong
Andrews departed from Pittsburgh International Airport on August 14 with a planned layover at O’Hare en route to Charlotte, North Carolina. At some point during the layover, she became separated from her phone. She asked an airport worker to use a phone to call her mother for a ride.

Reynolds missed the call. When she called back, the worker informed her of the request and added that Andrews was thought to have gone outside. The phone’s location continued to read as O’Hare. This led the family to believe the device had been lost there…
