The Inner Keep gets set to reveal what’s behind the green door

Despite the yet-to-open social club’s transparent website, the principals of The Inner Keep have found themselves amused at the speculation around it over the last few months, with some surmising it’s going to be everything from an underground club to a cigar bar.

In reality, the club, set to open Sept. 1, is neither. Instead, it bills itself as a “private gathering place in Evanston,” and, according to the owner, it aspires to be a second living room for its members.

“We want the space to be occupied by people you would want in your living room,” said owner Laura Calixte, a 53-year-old Evanston resident who ran a credit card processing company called EPNA in the same space at 1804 Central St. for the last several years…
