Street Takeover Shuts Down Morgan Park Intersection For Drifting Stunts Saturday As Police Investigate

MORGAN PARK — A car caravan took over a major intersection in Morgan Park Saturday night, though rumors the event led to gunfire are false, local officials said.

Around 11:40 p.m. Saturday, a group of drivers and onlookers took over the intersection of 111th Street and Western Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department’s Morgan Park (22nd) District and Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th). Video of the event shows drivers drifting, or driving in circles, in the intersection while spectators on foot and other cars block the intersection.

“They were there drifting, videoing themselves,” O’Shea said. “Multiple 911 calls went out. Chicago police responded and in 2 minutes and 51 seconds they were in the intersection breaking up the drifting incident.”…
