‘Farmhouse Eatery’ Concept to Replace Lock and Mule in Downtown Lockport

The beer spot is going through a change of concept this year.

Farmhouse Eatery is the name of a new concept coming to 1025 S State Street in downtown Lockport. The former Lock & Mule restaurant was managed by Tangled Roots Brewing Company, and it closed earlier this year. Owner of the new restaurant Scott Struchen told What Now Chicago construction is underway, and he is aiming to open Oct. 1.

Struchen was with Tangled Roots before leaving a few years ago. He wanted to create his own concept that connects restaurant visitors to farms from around the country, as part of his group Splurge Hospitality. The menus will feature QR codes that connect people to the farms where the ingredients were produced, like cheese created in San Francisco…
