When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver reportedly sped off, ignored a red light, and reached 70 mph in a 35 mph zone before another officer was able to spike the car’s tires at Spring Road and 31st Street.

The driver, later identified as Quinton Hicks, 38, of Chicago, allegedly continued to drive on flat tires and entered I-294 where he reached 80 mph before his car was disabled in Northlake.

Hicks was then taken into custody and transported to a local hospital after he told officers he had just ingested ecstasy.

While searching Hicks’ vehicle, officers discovered a handgun with one bullet in the chamber in the glove compartment.
