Former Hinsdale Central lacrosse coach charged after allegations of improper conduct with student from another district

KENDALL COUNTY, Ill. — A former assistant lacrosse coach at Hinsdale Central High School has been arrested and charged following allegations of improper conduct involving a student from another Illinois school district, officials say.

Alex Buetikofer, 38, of Lisle was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with nine counts, including four felony counts of solicitation to meet a child and two counts of grooming, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

Buetikofer was a freshman lacrosse coach at Hinsdale Central but was fired from the position after the allegations came to light, Hinsdale Township High School District 86 Superintendent Dr. Michael Lach confirmed to an inquiry from WGN News.

In a letter sent to district staff and families, Lach said the allegations of improper conduct against Buetikofer were related to his employment as a teacher in a separate school district that’s not affiliated with District 86 and that District 86 “ceased all association” with Buetikofer last month when it learned of the allegations.

Buetikofer was officially fired from his coaching role on March 26, according to Lach’s letter, and District 86 was notified Saturday that Buetikofer had been arrested and charged…
