After taking a break last summer due to a decline in sales, the fleet is officially making its comeback this week. Wheel Fun Rentals, a California-based company that operates in partnership with the Chicago Park District, is relaunching its fleet of 15 swan boats at the lagoon boathouse starting April 25.
Chicago’s beloved swan boats are back for 2026
Last year, the franchise owners closed the concession with no intentions of reopening, leaving the lagoon solely for the swans. However, this year, the all-day cafe set to open at the boathouse veranda prompted Wheel Fun Rentals’ franchise owners to return to Humboldt Park with their boat and bike services.
