A suburban man is charged with helping Alphonso Talley violently rob an Albany Park dollar store last Saturday morning, shortly before Talley allegedly went on to kill a Chicago police officer and gravely injure that officer’s partner by shooting them with a firearm he had hidden on his body after being arrested following the holdup.
A U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Jeron Tate, 18, of Maywood, on Thursday in the 7500 block of South Carpenter Street, Chicago police said. He is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on Friday afternoon.
Prosecutors said Tate and Talley entered the Family Dollar store at 3239 West Lawrence Avenue at 8:01 a.m. Saturday, just one minute after a 55-year-old cashier opened the store for business. Talley and Tate were wearing black jackets, black sweatshirts, and black face masks.
