Kid Rock’s ‘MAGA’ Music Festival Faces Delays Amid Texas Rainstorm
The much-anticipated two-day ‘MAGA’ music festival, headlined by Kid Rock and featuring country stars like Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, and rising artist Ella Langley, ran into trouble on its opening day due to unexpected heavy rain in Texas.
Originally scheduled to open the gates at 1:30 p.m. on May 1 at the Austin County Fairgrounds, the downpour forced organizers to delay entry multiple times-to 3:00 p.m., then 5:00 p.m., and finally 6:30 p.m.-significantly reducing stage time for the performers. Although the event was promoted as “rain or shine,” the persistent weather created logistical challenges, leaving many attendees frustrated.
“I’m not going to lie; I was cursing a lot,” said Ashley, a ticket holder, expressing the disappointment felt by many. Another attendee, Albert, shared similar sentiments: “The 3 o’clock delay was alright, but then the 5 o’clock delay was like, ‘Okay, now you’re just playing.’
The 6 o’clock was like, ‘I don’t know if it’s going to happen.’” Ashley even went as far as to say, “I want a refund.”
Despite the setbacks, fans remained hopeful that the lineup, including Ella Langley, Chase Matthew, and Jason Aldean, would still perform once the weather cleared.
In addition to delays, parking proved to be a headache for attendees. Ashley recounted their group’s experience driving from San Antonio early in the morning only to circle around the small town of Bellville searching for parking. “When we finally did find it, I saw that everybody was in ponchos,” she said, noting that umbrellas sold out and that the festival’s policy barred them from bringing the $30 umbrellas onto the grounds-assuming the gates would open at all.
Kory Doty, another festivalgoer, described the conditions as “wet and nasty,” mentioning that while flooding wasn’t severe yet, more rain was expected throughout the day. “So far, just muddy and nasty. No equipment has been damaged,” she added.
Festival organizers took to Instagram to urge attendees to respect local parking areas, emphasizing, “We love Bellville. All community parking lots should be treated with respect.
Let’s take care of the groups that have stepped up and helped out. Park in designated areas only and let’s leave it better than we found it.”
As the rain continues to challenge the event, the festival’s fate hinges on whether the weather will improve, allowing the artists to take the stage and the fans to enjoy the music despite the soggy start.
