Chicago highway among worst stretches for Memorial Day traffic

(NEXSTAR) – If you are one of the millions of Americans hitting the road during the Memorial Day weekend, you may want to plan carefully to avoid being trapped in holiday weekend gridlock.

According to AAA, 39.1 million people – 87% of Memorial Day travelers – are projected to hit the road this year, a slight increase from last year’s numbers.

“Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, and for most Americans, it’s a three-day weekend,” Stacey Barber, vice president of AAA Travel, said in a news release. “Travel demand remains strong, and despite higher fuel prices, many people are prioritizing leisure travel during holiday breaks.”…
