The pit bull attack case that shocked Cincinnati has resulted in a prison sentence for a father whose 3-year-old daughter died after being mauled by two dogs in his apartment.
This case led to criminal convictions and renewed debate over dangerous dog ownership. It also received widespread attention after details from a 911 call and trial testimony became public.

The sentence came weeks after Judge Virginia Tallent found Houston guilty of involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide, and endangering children. Prosecutors argued that Houston created unsafe conditions that allowed the fatal attack to occur. Court records showed that Kingsley was staying at her father’s Cincinnati apartment during the Christmas holiday when the incident happened. The case drew extensive coverage from local and national media because of the child’s age and the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to FOX19, prosecutors argued that Houston knew the enclosure was defective and failed to take adequate precautions to protect his daughter. Evidence presented during the trial included testimony from investigators, animal experts, and forensic specialists who examined the scene.
The judge concluded that Houston acted recklessly and disregarded a substantial risk to the child. Prosecutors said the circumstances leading to Kingsley’s death were preventable. They argued these issues stemmed from ongoing safety failures rather than an unforeseeable accident…
