CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A legendary Sister of Charity of Cincinnati known as the “fastest nun in the West” is a step closer to a possible new title from the Vatican.
Vatican theologians have unanimously approved advancing the cause for sainthood for Sister Blandina Segale, a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati whose work in the American West and later in Cincinnati made her a well-known figure in Catholic history.
Standing outside the convent that bears Sister Blandina’s name, petitioner Allen Sanchez announced the update and marked the vote.
“Today we’re celebrating the vote by the Vatican theologians on May 28. They voted advancing the cause of Sister Blandina to the cardinals and the bishops so they can make a recommendation to the Holy Father,” Sanchez said. “They will be meeting at the end of summer and if they all agree, which we hope they will the Holy Father could be making her Venerable Blandina Segale.”…
